Eternal Truth - God's Church Chieko

THE ETERNAL WORD OF GOD

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

— John 1:1

You Cannot Say You Don't Believe His Word and Yet Believe in God

God and His Word are ONE. To reject His Word is to reject Him. To doubt His Word is to doubt Him. True faith requires complete surrender to every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." — Romans 10:17

THE FOUNDATION OF FAITH

Believing 100% in God's Word

You Cannot Have Both

Many claim to believe in God while rejecting parts of His Word. This is impossible! God IS His Word. Jesus IS the Word made flesh.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" — John 1:14

Complete Faith Required

True believers accept EVERY word of God without question. His Word is truth, life, and the only path to salvation.

"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." — John 17:17

Biblical Evidence

Matthew 4:4

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."

2 Timothy 3:16

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

Isaiah 55:11

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please."

The Condemnation of Unbelief

God's Wrath Upon Unbelievers

Those who refuse to believe God's Word are already condemned. Their unbelief is not just ignorance - it is rebellion against the Creator.

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." — John 3:18
Mark 16:16

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned."

John 3:36

"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

2 Thessalonians 2:12

"That they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Hebrews 3:12

"Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God."

The Hypocrite's Delusion

Many claim to know God while living in disobedience to His Word. They are liars and hypocrites, deceiving themselves and others. God knows their hearts and will judge them accordingly.

"They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work." — Titus 1:16

WHAT SEPARATES US FROM GOD

Sin is the Only Thing That Separates Man From God

Understanding the Barrier Between Heaven and Earth

Sin: The Great Separator

The Absolute Truth

It is not poverty, sickness, ignorance, or circumstances that separate you from God. It is SIN and SIN ALONE that creates an impassable gulf between holy God and sinful man.

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear." — Isaiah 59:2
God's Holiness Demands Perfection

God is absolutely holy and cannot tolerate sin in His presence. Even one sin makes you completely unfit for heaven. His holiness is like a consuming fire that destroys all unrighteousness.

"For our God is a consuming fire." — Hebrews 12:29

"Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing." — Habakkuk 1:13

Sin Brings Spiritual Death

Sin doesn't just separate you from God temporarily - it brings spiritual death. You are born spiritually dead because of sin, unable to please God or understand spiritual things.

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins." — Ephesians 2:1

"The soul who sins shall die." — Ezekiel 18:20

The Impossibility of Self-Salvation

No amount of good works, religious activity, or moral improvement can bridge the gap that sin has created. You cannot save yourself because you are spiritually dead and completely corrupted by sin.

"But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags." — Isaiah 64:6

More Biblical Evidence of Sin's Separation

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Romans 3:23

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

James 2:10

"For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all."

1 John 3:4

"Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness."

Galatians 3:22

"But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe."

Psalm 14:3

"They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one."

THE ORIGIN OF SIN

Every Person is Guilty Before God

Understanding Our Sinful Nature

Adam's Sin Spread to All Mankind

🍎 The First Sin

In the Garden of Eden, Adam disobeyed God's command and brought sin into the world. Through one man's disobedience, sin entered and death spread to all mankind.

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned" — Romans 5:12

All Are Guilty

Even those who never committed the same sin as Adam are still guilty before God. We are all born with a sinful nature inherited from Adam.

"Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of Adam's transgression" — Romans 5:14

The Universal Verdict

Scripture declares that ALL have sinned and fall short of God's glory. There are no exceptions - every person who has ever lived (except Jesus) is guilty of sin.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" — Romans 3:23

Biblical Evidence of Universal Sin

Romans 3:10-12

"There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."

Ecclesiastes 7:20

"For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin."

1 John 1:8

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

The Consequence: Death and Hell

Physical Death

Because of sin, every person will die physically. Death entered the world through Adam's sin.

"For the wages of sin is death" — Romans 6:23
Eternal Death (Hell)

More importantly, sin separates us from God forever. Without salvation, sinners face eternal punishment.

"And these will go away into everlasting punishment" — Matthew 25:46

YOUR ETERNAL DESTINATION

Heaven or Hell - There Are Only Two Options

Where Will You Spend Eternity?

HEAVEN

Eternal Life with God

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." — Revelation 21:4

Perfect Joy and Peace

"In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." — Psalm 16:11

No More Sin or Suffering

"But nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it." — Revelation 21:27

HELL

Eternal Separation from God

"And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." — Matthew 25:46

Conscious Torment Forever

"And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night." — Revelation 14:11

No Second Chance

"And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot." — Luke 16:26

The Choice is Yours

Every person will spend eternity in one of these two places. There is no middle ground, no purgatory, no second chances after death. Your choice in this life determines your eternal destiny.

The Time to Choose is NOW

You don't know when your life will end. Today could be your last opportunity to choose Heaven over Hell.

"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." — 2 Corinthians 6:2

THE PATH TO RIGHTEOUSNESS

According to God's Word

The Essential Steps

These five essential steps represent the biblical path to salvation. Now that you understand God's Word and what separates you from Him, you must proceed through each step to experience His saving grace.

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you." — Hosea 4:6

ARE YOU READY?

To embark on the eternal journey of faith and righteousness?

The Word of God is calling you today. Don't delay your salvation. Every moment you wait is a moment closer to eternity without God.

Warning from Scripture

"How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" — Hebrews 2:3

"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." — 2 Corinthians 6:2

LEARN YOUR TRUE NATURE

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?"

— Jeremiah 17:9

WHAT SIN REALLY MEANS

Understanding the True Nature of Sin

The Biblical Definition of Sin

🎯 Missing the Mark

The word "sin" means to miss the mark or fall short of a standard. God's standard is absolute perfection. Even one sin makes you guilty before God.

"For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all." — James 2:10
Breaking God's Law

Sin is lawlessness - breaking God's commandments. Every time you lie, steal, lust, hate, or disobey God in any way, you are breaking His law.

"Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness." — 1 John 3:4
Falling Short of Glory

God created you to reflect His glory, but sin has corrupted that image. You cannot bring glory to God in your natural state because you are spiritually dead in sin.

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins" — Ephesians 2:1

THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR SIN

What Your Sin Has Done to You

The Devastating Results of Sin

Spiritual Death

Sin separates you from God. You are spiritually dead and cannot have fellowship with the holy God.

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you" — Isaiah 59:2
"For the wages of sin is death" — Romans 6:23a
Eternal Judgment

After death comes judgment. Because you are a sinner, you are destined for eternal punishment in hell.

"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" — Hebrews 9:27
"And these will go away into everlasting punishment" — Matthew 25:46a
The Sobering Truth

This is your condition before God right now. You are a guilty sinner under the wrath of God, destined for eternal punishment. You must understand this reality before you can understand your need for repentance.

"The soul who sins shall die." — Ezekiel 18:4

THE REALITY OF HUMAN NATURE

What God's Word Says About You

You Are Born a Sinner

🍎 Inherited from Adam

When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, sin entered the human race. Every person born since Adam has inherited a sinful nature. This is not something you chose - it's what you are.

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned" — Romans 5:12
Born in Sin

"Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me." — Psalm 51:5

David recognized that he was sinful from the moment of conception. This is the condition of every human being.

No Exceptions

"For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin." — Ecclesiastes 7:20

Even the most moral person on earth is still a sinner. There are no exceptions to this universal condition.

WE ARE SINNERS FROM CONCEPTION

You Don't Become a Sinner by Breaking the Law

Born Sinners, Not Made Sinners

🍼 Sinners From Conception

You were born a sinner - this is your nature from the moment of conception. You don't become a sinner by breaking God's law; you break God's law because you ARE a sinner by nature.

"Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me." — Psalm 51:5

David understood that his sinful condition existed from the very moment of his conception. This is the universal condition of all humanity.

The Law Reveals What Already Exists

God's law doesn't make you a sinner - it reveals that you already ARE a sinner. The law exposes your sinful nature and shows you the depth of your corruption.

"What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, 'You shall not covet.'" — Romans 7:7

Paul explains that the law's purpose is to make sin known - to reveal what was already there.

🔍 Romans and the Universal Condition

The book of Romans systematically proves that all humanity - both Jews and Gentiles - are born sinners under condemnation, regardless of whether they have the law or not.

Gentiles Without Law

"For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves" — Romans 2:14

Even without written law, they know right from wrong and are condemned.

Jews With Law

"Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God." — Romans 3:19

Having the law makes them even more guilty because they know better.

The Verdict of Romans

After examining both Jews and Gentiles, Paul concludes that ALL are born sinners, ALL are under sin, and ALL are condemned before God.

"What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin." — Romans 3:9
"As it is written: 'There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.'" — Romans 3:10-11
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" — Romans 3:23
🎯 The Law's True Function

The law was given to make you conscious of your sin and your desperate need for forgiveness. It drives you to acknowledge your guilt before God and cry out for mercy.

"Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound." — Romans 5:20a
"Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin." — Romans 3:20
"But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire." — Romans 7:8a

The law actually stirs up sin in our hearts, proving that we are sinners by nature, not by choice.

THE PURPOSE OF GOD'S LAW

Understanding Why God Gave the Laws

God's Law Reveals Your Sin

The Law as a Mirror

God gave His law not to make you righteous, but to show you how sinful you really are. The law is like a mirror that reveals the dirt on your face - it shows you the problem but cannot clean you.

"Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin." — Romans 3:20
The Standard of Perfection

God's law demands absolute perfection. It requires you to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Have you done this perfectly every moment of your life?

"And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." — Mark 12:30
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself." — Mark 12:31
🔍 Exposing Hidden Sin

The law reveals not just outward actions, but the sinful thoughts and desires of your heart. God sees and judges the intentions of your heart, not just your external behavior.

"But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." — Matthew 5:28
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." — Hebrews 4:12

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE LAW

What the Law Cannot Do for You

The Law Cannot Save You

No Justification by Works

You cannot be made righteous before God by keeping the law. The law only condemns you because you have already broken it. Even if you could keep it perfectly from now on, you are still guilty of past violations.

"Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight" — Romans 3:20a
⚡ The Law Brings Wrath

The law does not bring God's favor - it brings His wrath upon sinners. Every commandment you break increases your guilt and condemnation before the holy God.

"Because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression." — Romans 4:15
🎯 The Law's True Purpose

The law was given to make you conscious of your sin and your desperate need for forgiveness. It drives you to acknowledge your guilt before God and cry out for mercy.

"Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God." — Romans 3:19

The law's purpose is to make you acknowledge your sins before God and understand your desperate need to repent!

Do You Understand Your Condition?

You Are Guilty Before God!

Now that you understand what sin really means, its devastating consequences, your sinful nature, and the purpose of God's law, you must face the truth: You are a guilty sinner who has broken God's law and deserves His eternal punishment.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" — Romans 3:23

The law has done its work - it has shown you your sin and made you guilty before God.

❓ But How Can Sins Be Forgiven?

You now understand your desperate need for repentance and forgiveness, but how can a holy God forgive sins? What provision has He made for the forgiveness of sins? The next step will reveal God's plan from the beginning.

Are you ready to learn about God's provision for the forgiveness of sins? The next step will show you how God established the way for sins to be forgiven through His divine plan.

STEP 2

UNDERSTANDING REPENTANCE

"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out"

— Acts 3:19

HUMAN THOUGHTS vs SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS

The Battle Between Flesh and Spirit

ADMONISHMENT TO THE CARNAL MIND

Your Natural Mind is Enmity Against God

Your human reasoning and natural thoughts are hostile to God. You cannot understand spiritual things with your carnal mind, and you resist God's truth because it condemns you.

The Carnal Mind

"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." — Romans 8:7

Your natural mind is at war with God and cannot submit to His law.

Spiritual Blindness

"But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." — 1 Corinthians 2:14

You cannot understand God's truth in your natural state.

Stop Trusting Your Own Understanding!

Your human wisdom is foolishness to God. Stop leaning on your own understanding and submit to God's Word!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding" — Proverbs 3:5
"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God" — 1 Corinthians 3:19

WHAT TRUE REPENTANCE MEANS

Biblical Repentance from Both Testaments

OLD TESTAMENT REPENTANCE

🔄 "Shuv" - To Turn Back

The Hebrew word "shuv" means to turn back, return, or change direction. It involves turning away from sin and turning back to God.

"Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him" — Isaiah 55:7
"Turn us back to You, O LORD, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old" — Lamentations 5:21
"Nacham" - To Be Sorry/Grieved

The Hebrew word "nacham" means to be sorry, to grieve, or to have compassion. True repentance involves genuine sorrow for sin.

"I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained bull; Restore me, and I will return, For You are the LORD my God.'" — Jeremiah 31:18

NEW TESTAMENT REPENTANCE

"Metanoia" - Change of Mind

The Greek word "metanoia" means a change of mind, a transformation of thinking that leads to a change of behavior.

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" — Matthew 3:2
"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." — Mark 1:15
Godly Sorrow vs Worldly Sorrow

There is a difference between godly sorrow that leads to repentance and worldly sorrow that leads to death.

"For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death." — 2 Corinthians 7:10
Godly Sorrow:
  • • Grieves over offending God
  • • Leads to genuine repentance
  • • Results in changed behavior
  • • Seeks God's forgiveness
Worldly Sorrow:
  • • Only sorry for consequences
  • • No real change of heart
  • • Continues in sin
  • • Leads to spiritual death

CONFESSION OF SIN

Acknowledging Your Guilt Before God

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF CONFESSION

King David's Confession

After his adultery with Bathsheba and murder of Uriah, David made a complete confession of his sin before God:

"Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions." — Psalm 51:1
"For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me." — Psalm 51:3
Daniel's Confession for Israel

Daniel confessed not only his own sins but the sins of his people Israel.

"We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments." — Daniel 9:5
🏠 The Prodigal Son's Confession

Jesus told this parable to show what true repentance looks like.

"Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son." — Luke 15:21

GOD'S LAW OF ATONEMENT

The Only Way God Established for Forgiveness

WITHOUT BLOOD, NO FORGIVENESS

God's Unchanging Law

From the very beginning, God established that sin requires death, and forgiveness requires the shedding of blood. This is not man's idea - this is God's eternal law.

"And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission." — Hebrews 9:22
The Wages of Sin

"For the wages of sin is death" — Romans 6:23a

Sin demands death as payment. This is God's justice.

Life is in the Blood

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." — Leviticus 17:11

Blood represents life given for atonement.

THE SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM

The Daily Sacrifices

God commanded daily sacrifices to be offered for the sins of the people. These sacrifices pointed to the need for atonement.

"Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two lambs of the first year, day by day continually." — Exodus 29:38
🎯 The Day of Atonement

Once a year, on the Day of Atonement, the high priest would make atonement for all the sins of Israel.

"For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD." — Leviticus 16:30
The Scapegoat

One goat was sacrificed, the other sent away bearing the sins of the people

Blood in the Holy of Holies

The high priest sprinkled blood on the mercy seat for atonement

The Passover Lamb

The Passover lamb had to be without blemish, and its blood protected the Israelites from death.

"And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt." — Exodus 12:13

THE PROMISE THROUGH MALACHI

God's Final Word in the Old Testament

THE MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT

👤 The Coming Messenger

Through the prophet Malachi, God promised to send a messenger who would prepare the way, and then the Lord Himself would suddenly come to His temple.

"Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, Will suddenly come to His temple, Even the Messenger of the covenant, In whom you delight. Behold, He is coming," says the Lord of hosts." — Malachi 3:1
The Preparer

"My messenger" who would prepare the way - this speaks of one who would come first to make ready the people.

The Lord Himself

"The Lord" and "the Messenger of the covenant" - this speaks of God Himself coming to His people.

But Who Can Endure His Coming?

Malachi warns that when the Lord comes, He will be like a refiner's fire and like launderer's soap - He will purify and cleanse, but who can stand before His holiness?

"But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire And like launderer's soap." — Malachi 3:2

This promise points to a coming One who would deal with sin once and for all.

⏰ 400 Years of Silence

After Malachi's prophecy, God was silent for 400 years. No prophet spoke. The people waited for the fulfillment of this promise.

The Old Testament ends with this promise hanging in the air: God will send His messenger, and then the Lord Himself will come!

Are You Ready for the Fulfillment?

What You Have Learned

✓ Your carnal mind is enmity against God

✓ True repentance means change of mind

✓ Confession of sin is required

✓ Without blood, there is no forgiveness

✓ God established the law of atonement

✓ God promised to send His messenger

Now you are ready to learn about the fulfillment of God's promise. The next step will reveal how God kept His word through the New Testament!

STEP 3

THE OLD TESTAMENT ATONEMENT

"And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission."

— Hebrews 9:22

INTRODUCTION TO REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS

REPENTANCE: FROM OLD TESTAMENT TO NEW TESTAMENT

Repentance is not just feeling sorry for sin; it is a complete change of mind and direction. In the Old Testament, repentance involved turning back to God from idolatry and disobedience. In the New Testament, it involves a transformation of thinking that leads to a new life in Christ.

Old Testament: שׁוּב (SHUV) - To Turn Back

A complete return to God, abandoning sin.

"Turn back, turn back from your evil ways!" — Ezekiel 33:11
New Testament: Μετάνοια (METANOIA) - Change of Mind

A fundamental shift in thinking about God, sin, and salvation.

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" — Matthew 3:2
CONFESSIONS ACCORDING TO OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT

Confession is agreeing with God about your sin. In both Testaments, true confession involves acknowledging sin specifically, taking full responsibility, and seeking mercy.

Old Testament Confession

Examples like David and Daniel show confession as acknowledging sin against God and seeking His mercy.

"Against You, You only, have I sinned" — Psalm 51:4
New Testament Confession

Confession to God and sometimes to others, leading to forgiveness and restoration.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us" — 1 John 1:9
HOW GOD FORGAVE SINS ACCORDING TO THE OLD TESTAMENT

In the Old Testament, God forgave sins through the sacrificial system established at Sinai. Sin required blood sacrifice, and God provided the means for atonement through animal sacrifices that pointed to the coming Messiah.

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." — Leviticus 17:11
THE ATONEMENT: THE ONLY WAY GOD FORGAVE SINS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

If you lived in Old Testament times, the atonement system was the ONLY way God forgave sins. Without the proper blood sacrifice, sins remained unforgiven, and you would end up in hell. Even if one step in the sacrificial process was not done correctly or was skipped, there was no forgiveness.

The Consequences of Incomplete Atonement
  • • No sacrifice = No forgiveness = Eternal separation from God
  • • Improper sacrifice = No acceptance = Continued guilt
  • • Skipped steps = Invalid atonement = Unforgiven sin

The law was strict: "without shedding of blood there is no remission" (Hebrews 9:22)

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT THE LAW OF ATONEMENT BEING THE ONLY WAY
"And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission." — Hebrews 9:22
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." — Romans 6:23
"The soul who sins shall die." — Ezekiel 18:4
"It is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." — Leviticus 17:11
HUMAN WAYS OF FORGIVENESS DO NOT WORK

Many people think they can earn forgiveness through their own efforts - praying, fasting, giving sacrifices, doing good works. But in the Old Testament, God rejected any approach that bypassed the required atonement system. Even worse, God does not listen to sinners. You must be sinless to approach God in prayer.

God Rejects Human Attempts at Forgiveness
  • • Praying without atonement - God doesn't hear
  • • Fasting and praying - Still sinful, God turns away
  • • Offering unauthorized sacrifices - Rejected by God
  • • Doing good works - Cannot atone for sin
"If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear." — Psalm 66:18
"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear." — Isaiah 59:2
"The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous." — Proverbs 15:29
"We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him." — John 9:31
️ He Died on the Cross

Jesus Christ willingly went to the cross and died as a substitute for sinners. He took upon Himself the punishment that you deserve for your sins.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed." — Isaiah 53:5
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree')" — Galatians 3:13
He Satisfied God's Justice

God's justice demanded that sin be punished. Jesus satisfied that justice by taking the full wrath of God upon Himself. God's justice is now satisfied for all who believe in Jesus.

"And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world." — 1 John 2:2
🌅 He Rose from the Dead

On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, proving that His sacrifice was accepted by God and that He has power over sin and death.

"Who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification." — Romans 4:25
"But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." — 1 Corinthians 15:20
He is Exalted in Heaven

Jesus ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father. He intercedes for believers and will one day return as King of kings.

"Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us." — Romans 8:34

THE PERFECT FULFILLMENT

🎯 EVERY PROPHECY FULFILLED

Jesus Christ is the perfect fulfillment of every Old Testament prophecy, type, and shadow. Everything in the Old Testament pointed to Him.

The Passover Lamb

Perfect, without blemish, blood saves from death

"For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us" — 1 Corinthians 5:7

God provides the substitute sacrifice

"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all" — Romans 8:32
THE PERFECT SACRIFICE

Unlike the animal sacrifices that had to be repeated year after year, Jesus offered Himself once for all time. His sacrifice is perfect and complete.

Animal Sacrifices
  • • Had to be repeated yearly
  • • Could only cover sin temporarily
  • • Could not take away sins
  • • Were a reminder of sins
  • • Could not perfect the worshiper
Christ's Sacrifice
  • • Offered once for all time
  • • Removes sin permanently
  • • Takes away sins completely
  • • Provides perfect forgiveness
  • • Perfects believers forever
"But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God... For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified." — Hebrews 10:12, 14

HOW TO BE SAVED

The Simple Way to Receive Eternal Life

BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL OF WATER AND SPIRIT

💧 The Water: Jesus Took Your Sins at His Baptism

Believe that Jesus Christ took all your sins upon Himself when He was baptized by John the Baptist. At that moment, all the sins of the world were transferred to Jesus.

"Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" — John 1:29
️ The Spirit: Jesus Paid for Your Sins on the Cross

Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the wages of sin for you. He shed His blood and gave His life as the perfect sacrifice for your sins.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 6:23
🌅 Jesus Rose Again and is Alive Today

Believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day and is alive today, sitting at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for you.

"Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us." — Romans 8:34

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BELIEVE

🙌 You Become a Child of God

When you believe in the gospel of water and spirit, you are born again as a child of God. You receive the right to become God's child and are adopted into His family.

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" — John 1:12
"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!" — 1 John 3:1
You Are Justified Before God

You are declared righteous before God. Your sins are forgiven, and you are made right with God. There is no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" — Romans 5:1
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" — Romans 8:1
You Receive Eternal Life

You pass from death to life. You have eternal life now and will live forever with God in heaven. Death has lost its sting, and the grave has lost its victory.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life. He shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." — John 5:24
"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." — 1 John 5:11
🕊️ You Receive the Holy Spirit

When you believe, you receive the Holy Spirit who dwells in you forever. The Spirit seals you, teaches you, and empowers you to live a godly life.

"And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." — Romans 8:10
"In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise" — Ephesians 1:13
